Mivtzoyim http://shteeble.ca/mivtzoyim-2/ Fri, 17 Jul 2015 14:18:22 +0000 http://shteeble.ca/?page_id=553 553 Mivtzoyim Letter http://shteeble.ca/mivtzoyim/ Fri, 17 Jul 2015 13:58:12 +0000 http://shteeble.ca/?page_id=544

Dear Friends & Anash sheyichyu,

Last Summer, we did a huge campaign of Tfillin, because of the situation then. Now it’s something different.
We all know the devastating news of Chaya Mussia Zaltzman’s passing, a beautiful 6 year old child, granddaughter of our dear friend & Shliach, Rabbi Yoseph Zaltzman sheyichye. We are shattered. We must all ask ourselves: What can we do?
Recently, our friend, Reb Leib Kaushansky sheyichye of our Community lost three loved ones: Two children & his wife.
What can we do? I don’t know.
Maybe Moshiach is waiting for there to be more Achdus amongst us. Let’s talk to each other, smile, say good morning, & let’s mean it. Let’s forget our differences. “Chassidim One Family,” right? Do we believe that, or is it just words?!
We have great Shluchim, here in Toronto. Let’s help them! We are lucky to have wonderful Mosdos.
There are people suffering in our community! Let’s help them.
We’re all very busy. But I think in light of the situation, we can all give a half hour for the Rebbe.
Let’s give a half hour or even 20 minutes, for learning Chassidus every morning, before davening, that’s the basics of being a Lubavitcher!
We will be continuing the campaign of Mivtzoyim for Tfillin, @ No Frills, every single Sunday till Rosh Hashana, so let’s use out the great Summer & nice weather, (it will be freezing again soon) to wrap Jews with Tfillin! Neshek for Women!
There is a man, whom, because of last year putting on Tfillin @ No Frills, was invited for a Shabbos. He was thrilled to get invited, as no one ever invited him before. 1 year later, he now has his own Tfillin, & he puts on every day!!
May we see Moshiach now, when G-d will erase all our tears, but until then, let us do, as the Rebbe writes, “One action is worth more than 1 thousand groans!”

Sincerely,
Rabbi Yirmi Cohen
Thornhill, Ont.

Challah
Ingredients
Instructions
  1. 1 In a large bowl, sprinkle yeast over barely warm water. Beat in honey, oil, 2 eggs, and salt. Add the flour one cup at a time, beating after each addition, graduating to kneading with hands as dough thickens. Knead until smooth and elastic and no longer sticky, adding flour as needed. Cover with a damp clean cloth and let rise for 1 1/2 hours or until dough has doubled in bulk. Punch down the risen dough and turn out onto floured board. Divide in half and knead each half for five minutes or so, adding flour as needed to keep from getting sticky. Divide each half into thirds and roll into long snake about 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Pinch the ends of the three snakes together firmly and braid from middle. Either leave as braid or form into a round braided loaf by bringing ends together, curving braid into a circle, pinch ends together. Grease two baking trays and place finished braid or round on each. Cover with towel and let rise about one hour. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Beat the remaining egg and brush a generous amount over each braid. Sprinkle with poppy seeds if desired. Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for about 40 minutes. Bread should have a nice hollow sound when thumped on the bottom. Cool on a rack for at least one hour before slicing.
